Copyright complaints & DMCA

If you believe material on Folio infringes your rights, submit a copyright complaint. You do not need a Folio account.

What to include

Identify the copyrighted work and the precise Folio URL of the material you want reviewed. Provide your contact details and signature, a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, agent or law, and an accuracy/authority statement under penalty of perjury. Our guided form asks for these details. Avoid sending unrelated personal records or copies of sensitive images.

How we respond

We review complaints expeditiously and restrict or remove material where appropriate, notify the affected uploader, and record the decision. We reasonably implement a repeat-infringer termination policy and accommodate applicable standard technical measures. A report is not an automatic decision that infringement occurred. Knowingly false material claims can have legal consequences.

Counter-notices

If material was removed through mistake or misidentification, submit a counter-notice with the removed material’s prior URL, your signature, name/address/phone, the required good-faith statement under penalty of perjury, jurisdiction consent and acceptance of service. Relevant information may be forwarded to the original complainant. Do not submit information you are unwilling to provide for this process.

For a compliant statutory counter-notice, restoration generally follows the 10–14 business-day statutory timetable unless the complainant provides notice of a qualifying court action. Independent safety, regional, rights or legal holds can still require review. We do not restore nonconsensual or otherwise prohibited material merely because a copyright claim is challenged.

Designated agent

The owner is arranging the Copyright Office agent registration. No registered designation or DMCA safe-harbor qualification is represented until the matching public agent details are listed. The public form already accepts copyright complaints for review. Formal statutory agent contact details will be published here when registered.

Other removal requests

Privacy and nonconsensual intimate-image requests are separate from copyright. Use the intimate-image removal route or privacy support, even if you do not own copyright.
